Most Popular Publishers cater to growing use of MP3s for schoolwork

Excerpt:

"Students are more mobile today. Their expectations of being able to get digital content is certainly much higher than it has been in the past," said Scott Criswell, product manager of online delivery systems for the higher education unit of McGraw-Hill Cos., one of the three biggest textbook publishers. Criswell said the company now offers more than 800 digital products, most with audio, and that figure has increased by 50 percent over the past four years.

Earbud Clips

Keep your earbuds from tangling in your bag or pocket. I haven't found any reviews for them so I am not sure how well they work.

Podcast Quick Tip: Taking the show on the road

If you have a favorite podcast, chances are you want to take the show with you where ever you go. But if you are one of the small 15% of the MP3 player crowd that doesn’t own an iPod, taking some of the fancier (i.e. enhanced) podcasts with you may seem like an impossibility. In this Quick Tip, Stephen Schleicher shows you how to convert a M4B file into something you can burn to CD or put on one of those other music players.

Podcasting with iChat Using GarageBand and iChat for podcasting

By Stephen Schleicher
One of the great things about creating podcasts with GarageBand 3 is the ability to record multiple people at once. The bad thing about GarageBand 3 is that unless the audio signal is panned everyone gets recorded to the same track. That is unless everyone has iChat. With this instant messaging application everyone gets their own track instantly. In this quick tutorial, I’ll walk you through the steps.

When I read GarageBand 3 would recognize an iChat conversation and record each participant separately on their own track I knew this feature would make interviews and co-hosts coast to coast possible. It is really easy to set up.

Enhanced Podcast Creation Overview with GarageBand 3.0 A streamlined (and easy) method for podcasters

When Apple released the Chapter Tools feature for podcasters, all sorts of applications sprang up to assist those wanting to create an enhanced podcast. Unfortunately, these solutions were often time consuming sometimes being a kluge at best. Now with the release of GarageBand 3.0, Apple has made enhanced podcast creation a snap by keeping it in one application. In this tutorial I’ll walk you through the steps.

How to make a movie playable on your iPod

One way to take any QuickTime movie and convert it to your iPod is to purchase QuickTime Pro. (You can do with a credit card, and receive an email with the number. You can put the number into your existing QuickTime player and the whole thing can be done in less than an hour.)

Once you have QuickTime Pro installed, open the .mov file in the player, and select "export". One of the options in the pop-up menu will be to export for the iPod. It will convert the file to a .m4v file.

In iTunes, select, File -> Add to Library. (import won't work...) Then find the new .m4v file and import it in. The next time you sync, the video should be on your iPod.

There are also shareware/freeware tools that will do it if you don't want to shell out the money for QT Pro. Take a look at http://mac.majorgeeks.com/downloads38.html.

The film covers I purchased, (based on this review) was the Crystal Film Set from http://www.powersupportusa.com/.
